Okay, so I am reviewing all three books below. While I don't intentionally reveal spoilers on this blog, it is completely likely that there will be parts of my reviews, especially for books 2 & 3, that include details you may not have encountered otherwise. Esp if you're a newbie to this story.

It's impossible to review a series like this and not talk about the plot, and things you like/disliked, and still leave out details. So fair warning, I'm not going to have major headline spoilers, but if you read the review for book three and haven't read book one, some of the things I mention may be surprising.

Just something to keep in mind, and hopefully, this post will simply introduce you to your next favorite series! =D

Read on, and be sure to enter the giveaway at the end of the post for your chance to win something awesome!

Seraphina’s Awakening
Seraphina #1

 Seraphina's Awakening

~Released: September 1st, 2016

~Length: 230 Pages

Goodreads

For as long as she can remember, Seraphina Cross has experienced these visions that made her feel like there was more to life. It wasn’t until one moment, one accident that her life changed forever.

She awakens the next day a new person in more ways than one. With no recollection of past night’s events, she’s forced to adapt to certain sensations she is experiencing all while trying to piece together what exactly happened to her that fateful night. Her strange, hectic life doesn’t seem to make sense until she meets a handsome stranger. Only then does the puzzle finally piece itself together.

What she doesn’t expect is the new powers she has developed attracting all kinds of unwanted attention. Thrown into a world she never truly believed existed she is forced to come to grips with who she is becoming while staying out of trouble long enough to figure out what needs to be done to fulfill her destiny.

PG-17

Simple supernatural mystery, with the surprise of angels and demons.

Sera's life is boring - a plain bagel, left out to grow stale. She feels lost, hopeless, and confused as to what her life is supposed to mean. She's conflicted deep down about a lot of things, both about her own self, and her life as a whole. Not only that, she's hiding a secret from everyone she loves, and it's slowly taking over more and more of her life.

That all changes, when she unknowingly gets assigned a Guardian Angel, sent directly to her by God himself.

I hadn't expected the element of religious themes and topics, but honestly, it was amazing. The descriptions were wonderful, and the personalities given to each character, supernatural or not, were fairly realistic and fitting. The author did a wonderful job of weaving the paranormal elements into the contemporary setting of Sera's otherwise mundane life.

The mystery of which guy was who was captivating, and I loved the bread crumbs laid out in each chapter, keeping me guessing. I don't tend to enjoy romantic stories involving angels and demons - the idea of falling in love with any angel, fallen or not, kind of weirds me out, and I generally don't keep reading. Still, there was something about this story that made it worth it, and I'm glad I kept reading.

My only complaint for the whole book, is the fact it was rather slow. The writing, setting, and overall feel of the story was more fast-paced, but the progression of the story was almost painfully slow. While it was nice to have so much of the foundation laid early on, and so much of the backstories explained, it made the tease of getting on with the mystery a kind of frustrating I don't really enjoy.

Overall though, with that being the only negative, this is still a solid four-rose book. The plot was strong, I didn't see many gaps, and the character progression and growth was phenomenal. I enjoyed the mix of darker suspense with light, up-beat humor, and the flow of the story felt natural and smooth. Definitely a series to finish, and a book I'd recommend to others.

Seraphina’s Initiation
Seraphina, #2

 Seraphina's Initiation

~Released: February 20th, 2017

~Length: 277 Pages

Seraphina Cross is unexpectedly thrown into this crazy, spiritual world of Angels versus Demons.

Never did she expect to meet Nate who was just a figment of her imagination. Now she finds herself moving in with him because of her innate responsibility to protect her loved ones from harm.

Finally beginning to feel at home in her new house and with her new relationship. Nate begins training Sera in all that she can do, surprising even himself at times.Just when she is starting to feel safe and powerful, Lucifer finds a new way to attack her at her most vulnerable.

When her dreams are no longer a gift, can Sera control the powers needed to defeat what's coming before Lucifer fulfills his promise to her?

PG-17

Far more action, and far more drama.

Sera is figuring her life out. It's no longer a stale, mundane existence she's in. That's not necessarily a good thing, though.

She begins training herself to use gifts and powers like a superhero, all while feeling a bit out of place for even having them at all. She struggles more with self-worth and self-acceptance than any thing else she faces, including the devil himself.

The pace picked up a bit in this book, which was a wonderful change from the first book. Still, the drama also rose a bit, and being an anti-drama chick, it was a negative change. With that being the only negative, this is still a four-rose sequel though, and one I enjoyed quite a bit.

The few major plot twists were really well done, and the flow of the story thus far hasn't changed. It's smooth, and has a nice mix of darker elements and light humor, balancing each other out nicely.

While the love triangle aspect overall is a tad cliche, this particular situation is interesting. It's a more edgy take on the familiar set-up, and one I think others would find entertaining. I enjoyed this sequel quite a bit, and would definitely recommend to others.

Seraphina’s Vengeance

Seraphina, #3

 Seraphina's Vengance
~ Coming Sept 2017 ~

~Length: 300 Pages

One year ago, Seraphina’s entire world seemed to have dived into a mythical land over night. She’s somehow even gotten used to the madness of it all. But what happens when the craziness stops? Things become quiet… too quiet.

She should have known better, Sera should have known that things weren’t as quiet as they seemed. After one of the best nights of her life, Sera is forced into this treacherous journey to save one of her loved ones.

But following the path of evil begins to take its toll on Sera. As she struggles with her own internal dilemmas, Nate starts to take matters into his own hands. When this unseen world finally begins to affect Sera’s emotions and her relationship. Can she hold it together to save her loved ones? Will love conquer all? Or will it turn her evil… forever?

PG-17

Dealing with supernatural dangers, not feeling like yourself, fighting the devil...that would wear anyone out, right? Anyone would go a little crazy, and under the circumstances, maybe Sera isn't all that crazy, after all.

The year that changed her life - or rather, flipped it upside down and sideways - has taken it's toll. When good and evil battle, those stuck in the middle may just slip into both sides, as time goes on. That's what Sera does, anyway. People do crazy things for love, and as much as I'd like to say it works out for her, in my opinion, it really didn't.

This far into a series, characters become multi-dimensional. They're almost like real people. There are things you love about each, things you root for in them and their struggles, and reasons you side with them. There are also things you dislike about each one, and reasons you want to smack them upside the head. I'd like to do that to each one, please.

Don't get me wrong, this story is progressing wonderfully. The plot is just as good as it started out to be, and the characters have all grown and gone through so much. This story though, has definitely taken on the aspect of I love to hate them, and hate to love them, which is always the best kind of series.

The only reason this is a four-rose book for me, is the unfortunate fact that while it mixed all the good things from the first two books, it also mixed the things I didn't particularly like. The pace slowed back down to match the pace of the first book, and the drama stayed fairly high, which personally was a bit frustrating. Still, the story is good, and totally worth trudging through the parts I don't like, to get to the end. Luckily, there is another book in the series, because I don't feel ready to be done with Sera's story, and I'm curious to see what happens next.

Definitely a series I'd recommend, and hope others enjoy even more than I have.

So, there we have it!! Good series so far, and actually, far better than I expected it to be. The covers are gorgeous, and the author is fairly talented. In some places she gets wordy, but really, in a book like this, it kinda fits.

I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who things it sounds interesting. It reminds me quite a bit of the Supernatural television series, with a bit more drama and personal struggle added in. For any Sam and Dean fans out there, this is a series worth checking out.
